Jack Parsons was an American rocket engineer and occultist who was born on October 2, 1914 and died on June 17, 1952. He was one of the founding members of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, which played a crucial role in the development of modern rocket technology. Along with his scientific work, Parsons was also a practitioner of Thelema, a spiritual philosophy created by the British occultist Aleister Crowley. He was a prominent member of Crowley's magical order, Ordo Templi Orientis, and incorporated various ritualistic practices into his personal life and scientific pursuits. Despite his professional success, Parsons faced numerous setbacks, including being fired from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory due to his association with occult practices and his involvement with a scandalous love triangle. He died at the age of 37 in an explosion at his home laboratory. Despite his short and tumultuous life, Parsons is remembered as a visionary rocket scientist and an influential figure in both science and occultism.
